Offline address book not updating 2016
The offline address book contains the properties of a user, such as email addresses, that Microsoft Outlook requires to send an email message and display information about the sender.By using an offline address book, Outlook doesn’t have to connect to Microsoft Exchange Server to resolve names or open the records for each user. Therefore, if you are working in Cached Exchange Mode and if you are working online — that is, your connection status is Connected to Microsoft Exchange — Outlook uses both the offline address book and the GAL to provide a complete listing of user information. If you are in Cached Exchange Mode and your connection status is Disconnected, Trying to Connect, or Offline, you can see only the information that is in the offline address book.
I've just added a couple of new Email Distribution Groups on Exchange 2016 and they're not in the Offline Address Book yet as they're new so I went on to the Send/Recieve tab in Outlook and tried to manually download it but it's not working correctly: Exchange 2016 Address Book Not Updating.
Essentially, the issue is the GAL is not updating in Outlook. I looked at the recipient filter of the GAL, it's below for reference: (Alias -ne $null -and (Object Class -eq 'user' -or Object Class -eq 'contact' –or Object Class -eq 'ms Exch System Mailbox' -or Object Class –eq 'ms Exch Dynamic Distribution List' -or Object Class -eq 'group' -or Object Class –eq 'public Folder')) The next thing I'm going to try is creating a new GAL and making it the default, if necessary. That will force Outlook to download a complete GAL. If so, it is probably that the incremental update files haven't updated correctly.
We have another server in the wings waiting to be deployed, but we need to address the problem in the meantime. If it does not, then it is the generation or distribution process that is failing.
When you have Cached Exchange Mode enabled, Outlook by will by default cache the main Global Address List as well.
This is called the Offline Address Book and is being generated on the Exchange server.
